This course offers a comprehensive exploration of age-related diseases, with a focus on the impact of aging on various body systems. It delves into neuropsychiatric disorders, cardiorespiratory conditions, metabolic syndrome, musculoskeletal diseases, and more. The course is designed to provide an understanding of the pathophysiology, risk factors, prevention, and management strategies for common diseases that affect older adults. Students will gain insight into the biological changes associated with aging and how these changes contribute to the development of specific health conditions.

Mode of Delivery : ONLINE Mode

Lecture 1:  Neuropsychiatric Diseases
Understand the neuropsychiatric conditions prevalent in older populations, including dementia, depression, and anxiety, along with their diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

Lecture 2:  Endocrine and Aging
Explore how aging impacts the endocrine system, with a focus on common conditions like hypothyroidism, diabetes, and changes in hormone levels.

Lecture 3: Cardiorespiratory Diseases and Metabolic Syndrome
Explore the impact of aging on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, focusing on heart disease, hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and their management.
Study the relationship between aging and metabolic syndrome, a condition often associated with diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases, and learn strategies for prevention and management.

Lecture 4: Gastrointestinal System
Understand the effects of aging on the gastrointestinal system, including conditions such as constipation, diverticulosis, and the decline in digestive efficiency.

Lecture 5: Genitourinary System
Examine the effects of aging on the genitourinary system, including issues such as urinary incontinence, kidney function decline, and sexual health concerns in older adults.

Lecture 6:  Orthopedic and Musculoskeletal Diseases
Investigate musculoskeletal disorders such as osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and sarcopenia, and learn about strategies to manage and prevent these age-related conditions.
