In this project, students are challenged to use AWS services to design and deploy a database-backed web application in the AWS Cloud without step-by-step guidance. The architecture must reflect the principles of the AWS Well-Architected Framework and be highly available, scalable, high performing, and secure. Specific sections of the assignment are meant to challenge students on skills that they have acquired throughout the learning process.
Learning objectives
Upon completion of this project, students will be able to do the following:
{C} Create an architectural diagram to depict various AWS services and their interactions with each other.
{C} Estimate the cost of using services by using the AWS Pricing Calculator.
{C} Deploy a functional web application that runs on a single virtual machine and is backed by a relational database.
{C} Architect a web application to separate layers of the application, such as the web server and database.
{C} Create a virtual network that is configured appropriately to host a web application that is publicly accessible and secure.
